Respiratory care services at St. Rita's include a variety of services that
diagnose, treat, manage, control and rehabilitate patients with lung disorders.
Services are delivered by a team of highly trained respiratory professionals
including Certified Respiratory Therapists (CRT) and Registered Respiratory
Therapists (RRT) who practice in the state of Ohio as Respiratory Care Practitioners
(RCP).
Respiratory care therapists have an ever-expanding role in providing patient
care and work in daily collaboration with other members of the healthcare team.
Respiratory care therapists receive orders from physicians and are responsible
for carrying out the orders according to established standards.
At St. Rita's Medical center, we offer a variety of respiratory services,
which include:
- Aerosol Treatments – Aerosolized
Medication to Treat Wheezing and Prevent Certain Infections, Etc.
- MDI's - Metered Dose Inhalers to Aid in the
Patient's Breathing
- Pulse Oximetry Evaluations – To
Assist in Determining How Much Oxygen is in the Blood
- Postural Drainage – To
Aid in Draining Mucus out of the Lungs
- PEP Therapy – Aids
in Improving Cough to Help Remove Mucus from the Lungs
- Bladder Scans – Determines
How Much Urine Remains in the Bladder After Urination
- Smoking Cessation – Assist
Patients in Learning How to Quit Smoking
These services do not require an appointment, but do require a physicians
order. When possible, please contact the Respiratory Department at (419) 226-9398
in advance to let them know when you will be coming.
When you arrive at St. Rita's for Respiratory Care, you will want to take
the main elevators to the second floor and turn left to our Cardiopulmonary
Services department. You need to register with Cardiopulmonary Services prior
to any testing or appointments.
