The Birthing Experience

The BirthPlace at St. Rita's features large private birthing rooms. Unlike a traditional hospital room, the birthing rooms are beautifully decorated with wood furniture, draperies and comfortable furniture. Adjustable lighting, rocking chairs, warm showers and birthing balls are all available to assist you in the labor process. You choose your support persons and the individuals you would like to be near during the approaching birth of your child. During your labor and delivery, you will be cared for by our staff of experienced nursing professionals.

Pain Control
St. Rita's offers the latest in pain control options to make your labor as comfortable as possible. Our highly trained and experienced staff will work with you to provide pain control options that meet your needs. Anesthesiologists are available 24-hours a day to administer any anesthesia options you and your physician have decided upon.

Hydrotherapy
The hydrotherapy spa at St. Rita's is another flexible alternative for pain control. Promoting relaxation and relief from pain, mothers often experience a decrease in the length of labor and a decreased need for anesthesia such as IV medications and epidurals when using the spa.

It is important to have a complete understanding of hydrotherapy before labor begins so you may make an informed decision concerning this alternative. Talk to your physician or midwife about this option and if it may be right for you. Interested mothers may contact the OB Care Managers at (419) 226-9882 for further information.

High-Tech Monitoring
You and your baby's health and well-being throughout labor and delivery are our top concern. That's why we have sophisticated fetal monitoring equipment that allows us to monitor your baby's heartbeat in response to your contractions.

As the time of your baby's birth approaches, our specially trained nurses will be ready to assist you and your baby as needed.

Recovery is a special time for families to become acquainted with the baby. The first hour after delivery is a time for holding the new baby, breastfeeding, taking pictures and sharing the love and beauty of the occasion.
