The area’s largest employer recently promoted its Director of Human Resources, Will Cason. Cason has been named Vice President of Human Resources at St. Rita’s Medical Center.
Cason will likely remain busy, as the 453-bed Medical Center proceeds with its $130 million Medical Center of the Future expansion. The project promises to generate upwards of 500 additional jobs in the next couple of years and open 87 additional patient rooms.
“Thanks to Will’s vision, St. Rita’s has lead the region in adding to its already strong workforce,” says Brian Smith, Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President, St. Rita’s Medical Center. St. Rita’s employs nearly 3,000 people.
“He has forged innovative partnerships with area schools and universities, ensuring highly talented and qualified nurses and other key personnel are in place to care for our patients for generations to come,” adds Smith.
In addition to guiding the Human Resources department, Cason will also direct St. Rita’s Radiology and Housekeeping departments as well as Education, to ensure employees receive access to ongoing educational opportunities and possess the skill set required for the future.
Cason joined St. Rita’s staff in 1997 to head up the Human Resources department. Among his many accomplishments, Cason continues to draw nurses to the region as well as retain them. In fact, St. Rita’s retention rate far exceeds the national average.
Prior to coming to Lima, he worked at both Mercy and St. Charles hospitals in Toledo, Ohio. Cason received his Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from the U.S. Air Force Academy and his Master’s degree in Human Resource Management from Troy State University in Alabama.
He serves on a number of local boards including the Allen County Children Services Board, the Bradfield Community Center Board and the Allen County Workforce Policy Board.
Cason lives in Bath Township with his wife Dinah.
