Putnam County residents will now be able to take advantage of complete imaging services close to home with the addition of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) at St. Rita's Putnam County Ambulatory Care Center (Glandorf) starting in April.
"The addition of MRI services will create a full service imaging center in Putnam County," says Donna Konst, Administrative Director, St. Rita's Putnam County Ambulatory Care Center (PCACC). "Providing MRI along with traditional X-ray, CT scanning, mammography and ultrasound will allow virtually any imaging test to be completed at the Ambulatory Care Center."
With the very latest design features, this new MRI is more comfortable for patients. The tunnel in which patients pass through is shorter - only four foot in length compared to other MRI's with a six foot tunnel. The openings at either end are also much wider creating a more open and comforting feeling.
"Nearly 1,000 MRI procedures were completed for patients in Putnam County last year," says Konst . "Bringing this service to the Ambulatory Care Center will provide greater access to care as patients will no longer have to travel to Lima for this outpatient procedure."
"Patients require MRI for a wide range of diagnoses and often as a follow up to an injury," explains Amy Birkemeier, Ambulatory Imaging Manager. "Having MRI available in Putnam County will be a great advantage for our patients."
The Putnam County Ambulatory Care Center provides emergency care services, outpatient and rehabilitation services and a number of specialty clinics.
