The team currently includes:
Ostomy The Wound, Ostomy and Continence staff offers ostomy services which include pre-operation education and counseling as well as pre-op stoma marking. We also work closely with patients and their families in the Medical Center who have been diagnosed with new stomas teaching them how to care for themselves. The St. Rita’s staff also works with patients in the Medical Center who already have stomas and need additional help. We regularly see patients in the Outpatient Department who have problems managing their ostomy. Another service offered by the ostomy group is an Ostomy Support Group that meets the second Monday of every month (excluding July and August) in Dining Room C of the Medical Center. The goal of this group is to educate the patient and family and support/help each other through this process. Wound At St. Rita’s Medical Center, the Wound, Ostomy and Continence department works to evaluate and manage patients with difficult to heal wounds, pressure ulcers or fistulas. We also serve as resource for physicians and other staff in terms of wound care. This group also evaluates and manages patients with chronic wounds in the Outpatient Department along with patient’s physician. Continence The Continence team assists in managing patients in the Medical Center who have problems with incontinence. Reimbursements Medicare, Medicaid and most other insurance generally cover most visits, however, if you have questions, please check with your provider. |
