Common Q's

At The BirthPlace we want to ensure the birth of your child is a positive experience you’ll remember with a warm feeling. Answering questions and supporting families is one of the ways our OB care managers accomplish this goal. The following are frequently asked questions about labor and delivery:

Q. Where do I go when I think I am in labor?
A. Unless your doctor has instructed you differently, you should come to the hospital through the Emergency Department—no matter the time of day or night.

Q. How many people can be in my labor room?

A. You may have as many people as you wish visit you while you are in labor as long as your medical condition permits. Visitors must be 12 years old or older, unless they are siblings of the new baby.

Q. Can I take pictures or video record my delivery?
A. You will need your doctor’s permission to record the birth, but you may take whatever pictures or video before the birth. After the birth, you may only take picture or video of your baby. If the baby is in the Well Baby Nursery, you may NOT take pictures or video of other babies.
