The STAR Program is a Short Term Advanced Rehabilitation program staffed by
Certified Athletic Trainers (ATC). Our ATC's work with the patient to establish
an individualized exercise program and will supervise the entire S.T.A.R. session
to ensure the patients continuing progress and safety.
To be a part of The STAR Program, you must have a physician referral, generally
after formal therapy is completed. This program is considered self-pay at a
rate of $12.00 per hour with the bill being sent directly to you. To be considered
for the program, you must be able to independently handle daily living activities
and getting on/off exercise equipment by yourself or with a caregiver. At St.
Rita's, we want to ensure that all of our patients are safe under general
supervision. We must also be sure that the patient is not receiving similar
services at this or another facility. If a caregiver's assistance is required
to meet certain criteria of the program, the caregiver must be present for
all treatment sessions.
When
a patient joins The STAR Program, the first visit will be an initial evaluation
which includes setting individual goals that the patient can meet. Following
appointments will focus on strength, endurance, balance and flexibility, exercise
and will include periodic reassessments to ensure progress towards goals. Eventually,
the patient will be given a discharge to a home exercise program or fitness facility
(with or without a caregiver).
