During the clinic you will meet with several members of the care team, learn
about your surgery, what to expect, exercises to begin before surgery and specialized
equipment that might be involved in your care.
Orthopedic Care Manager
The care manager will explain the Total Joint Replacement Program and the
care manager's role as a member of the care team. The care manager will demonstrate
the actual total joint components and answer your questions. |
Pre-Admission Nurse
The nurse will complete the necessary pre-admission paperwork, explain the
surgery process and give you an idea of what to expect during your hospital
stay.
Orthopedic Equipment Specialist
Patients receiving total knee replacements may receive a demonstration of
the knee bending machine (CPM) if this treatment is part of your physician's
post operative plan of care.
Physical Therapist (PT)
The Physical Therapist will complete a mobility assessment and explain the
post-operative therapy plan. The therapist also instructs the patient on exercises
to perform before the surgery.
Occupational Therapist (OT)
This therapist will teach you how to prepare your home for safety and convenience
and demonstrate any assistive devices that may be ordered during your recovery
period.
