is a "legend" for many reasons. She has worked at St. Rita's for over 40
years, been extremely active in the community and is a licensed evangelist
at her church. She has also been involved in the prison ministry for more
than 20 years. Many of her community activities benefit children and just
recently, Maggie legally adopted her 5-year-old granddaughter.
By her example, Maggie has been influential in encouraging young people
to consider a career in healthcare, especially minority women and men. Although
she officially retired in 1995, she keeps working as needed, to make use
of her excellent skills and to help fill the gap brought about by a shortage
of nursing personnel.
Excellence, Compassion, Justice, Sacredness of Life, Human Dignity
and Service are not just words to Maggie, but
rather the Core Values she demonstrates every day, in every aspect of her
life.
We are proud to name Maggie Breaston, a Legend of St. Rita's. |
