Massage Therapy

Massage is a complementary therapy offered to St. Rita's patients used along with the treatment plan from your physician, nursing and multidisciplinary staff. Open heart patients can receive massage as needed, or as requested by their physician. Massage has many benefits including:

  • Relaxation
  • Increases Circulation
  • Decreases in Edema
  • Assists in Bowel Function
  • Decreases Pain and Discomfort
  • Aids in Helping Patients Ambulate Sooner and Longer Distances
  • Increases Ability of the Body to Heal Naturally
St. Rita's has Licensed Massage Therapists with advanced training pertinent to the in-patient population. Open heart patients may continue massage after their hospitalization as an outpatient by calling Cardiovascular Department or the Massage Department. A physician's order is not required for massage as an outpatient service.
