St. Rita's Business Committee plays a vital role in the efforts of the Development Council by strengthening and maintaining a strong relationship with community leaders and businesses. Because of their efforts nearly 50 distinguished local businesses are counted among the Business Honor Roll members at St. Rita's Medical Center.
"What St. Rita's brings to the community is important and contributing to those efforts is a method of supporting the programs and services offered by the Medical Center," says Steve Walter, co-chairman of St. Rita's Development Council and owner of Trisco Systems, Inc. "Supporting St. Rita's allows businesses to give something back to the community which has a positive impact on the health and well-being of all who live and work in this area."
Business Committee co-chairman, Tom Lloyd and Chief Financial Officer with MetoKote Corporation adds, "The Medical Center is important to Lima and as a member of the community it's important to me to have quality medical resources available not only for my family but also for our employees. Likewise as a business person, I am concerned about the overall cost and quality of care available in the community where I live and work."
The Business Committee serves as a link between business leaders and the medical center. Local leaders are kept up-to-date of the latest advancements and changes at the Medical Center , as well as recent healthcare trends.
The Business Honor Roll was established to recognize those businesses that desire to assist St. Rita's in remaining on the leading edge of medical technology and services. These businesses generously donate $1,000 or more annually to the efforts of St. Rita's.
"St. Rita's does much more for the community than what most people realize," adds Lloyd. "The funds that local businesses contribute to St. Rita's are reinvested in programs and services that make Lima a better place to live for everyone."
The committee has strengthened its efforts for recruitment of new Business Honor Roll members and the retention of existing members by creating semi-annual Business Briefings for current and prospective members. The briefings are designed to provide timely information on healthcare issues which are of importance to businesses.
"The briefings are a method of helping businesses and in turn getting them involved at St. Rita's," adds Lloyd.
"Having the ability to network with other businesses while staying abreast of the latest changes in healthcare is an added advantage of participating as a Business Honor Roll member," says Lloyd.
