Common Q's

At The BirthPlace we want to ensure the birth of your child is a positive experience you’ll remember with a warm feeling. Answering questions and supporting families is one of the ways our OB care managers accomplish this goal. The following are frequently asked prenatal questions:

Q. How do I find an obstetrician?

A. Ask family and friends for referrals or phone St. Rita’s Call A Nurse at (419) 226-9000 or (800) 437-4827 for information on doctors who are accepting new patients, or phone the obstetrician’s office to inquire.

Q. How do I find a follow-up baby doctor?
A. Ask family and friends which doctor takes care of their children. Contact St. Rita’s Call A Nurse at (419) 226-9000 or (800) 437-4827 for information on which doctors are accepting new patients or ask the OB Care Managers for a printed list of family physicians and pediatricians.

Q. What types of classes do you offer?
A. We offer a variety of classes to meet individual needs, from pregnancy and birth, through infant care and breastfeeding. We even have a class for new dads.

Q. How do I enroll in a class?
A. Contact St. Rita’s Call A Nurse at (419) 226-9000 or (800) 437-4827, or the OB Care Manager at your obstetrician’s office to enroll or inquire about dates, times and locations of the classes.

Q. How do I pre-register for my hospital stay?
A. You will need your doctor’s permission to record the birth, but you may take whatever pictures or video before the birth. After the birth, you may only take picture or video of your baby. If the baby is in the Well Baby Nursery, you may NOT take pictures or video of other babies.
